The Wessex Deanery web page for trainer visits has been updated with all the new trainer visit documentation which we will endeavour to update on these pages too (where necessary) bear with us and visit the following page if you are unsure as to whether the version you have is up-to-date: http://www.wessexdeanery.nhs.uk/gp__primary_care/resources_and_information.aspx#Trainers

Trainers and practices are visited every 3 years.  In preparation for the visit trainers are asked to complete and submit an application/ re-application form. Trainers are where possible asked to attend a re- approval visit at another practice in the preceding 6 months before their own approval is due. Their current GPR should attend which forms part of the GPR’s “special leave”entitlement. There is now a traffic light grading system for re- approvals visits.  These have been introduced to come in line with the PMETB standards.

Double Green Excellent 3 Year Approval
Green Satisfactory 3 Year Approval (1 Year if First Approval)
Yellow Some Problems 1 Year Approval
Orange More Significant Problems 6 Months Approval
Red Unsatisfactory No Training
