About the Practice
The Harvey Practice originated in Broadstone with Dr Beadles in 1950.. Dr Harvey joined the Practice in 1971. As the Practice flourished, a branch surgery was opened in Merley in 1972. New purpose-built premises were opened in Broadstone in 1978 followed by new premises in Merley in 1987. Redevelopment of both sites has taken place recently so that the Practice now enjoys the facility of 2 exceedingly well appointed, modern, purpose-built surgeries. The Broadstone site caters for approximately 7,500 patients and the Merley site for approximately 4,500 patients. The Practice has six partners, 3 female and 3 male.
We have an extensive management structure led by our full-time Practice Manager, Mrs Denise Hunter MBA. The Practice is fully computerised with Internet access, lab links etc.
The Practice has been a GP training Practice for approximately 17 years, since when we have had a GP Registrar almost continuously in post.
Our GP Registrars gain a wide ranging clinical experience in a modern, progressive environment. The workload is tailored to suit the individual’s training requirements. Clinical support or supervision is available at all times. In addition, there is a half day dedicated to tutorial time as well as joint Training/Registrar surgeries, full access to the Dorset Vocational Day Release Training Scheme and ample study time. Registrars are also welcome to be involved in all Practice clinical, business and ‘medical politics’ meetings.
The majority of the Partners have commitments outside the Practice. They have interests in medical politics, Occupational Medicine, Colposcopy, Dermatology and Genito-urinary medicine.
